The Submission Call

When I saw the submission call for Dissolution, the anthology’s theme intrigued me. Still, for days, I had no ideas for what to write about.

Then, I woke up in the middle of the night with a clear vision for my poem and drafted the whole thing. Luckily I wrote it down in my notes app on my iPad because my memory was fuzzy in the morning.

Since I was hardly awake when I typed the poem, it had a ton of typos. Beneath the mess, though, I loved what I had so far. I tweaked some of the lines, then sent the poem to friends, who shared incredible feedback. After final revisions, I submitted “Stardust” and received my acceptance a few days later.

“Stardust” explores the dissolution theme through art, inspiration, and the magic of surrendering to the muse.

Opening My Copy of Dissolution

Dissolution was published on July 8, the date I’ll always remember as the day I became a published poet. You can watch the video of me opening the book on YouTube.
