My Twenty-Third Anthology Publication – Capture This by Linton Press

I’m delighted that my new adult literary fiction piece, “Piano Sonata No. 1 in A-Flat Major,” found a home in Capture This: A Slice-of-Life Anthology by Linton Press. Since I’m a classical pianist, this one is extra special to me.

You can grab a copy of the anthology here.

The Journey of “Piano Sonata No. 1 in A-Flat Major”

Sometimes, stories get published years after they’re written.

That’s what happened with “Piano Sonata No. 1 in A-Flat Major.”

I wrote the story toward the beginning of 2023.

Yes, that long ago.

For over two years, I couldn’t find a promising submission call, but then, I came across Capture This during the summer of 2025. As soon as I read the call, I thought of “Piano Sonata No. 1 in A-Flat Major.”

Since I hadn’t looked at the story in a long time, I wanted to do revisions. After that, I submitted to Capture This and was beyond excited when I received my acceptance.

The anthology got published on May 12, which is super cool because for as long as I can remember, my lucky number has been 512. Everything happens for a reason.

A Peek Into “Piano Sonata No. 1 in A-Flat Major”

The story follows Lydia Mozart, a fictional descendent of the famous composer, who has dreams of being a concert pianist. But when she sustains a hand injury, she discovers her new path as a composer.

“Piano Sonata No. 1 in A-Flat Major” is packed with vivid imagery, metaphors, and symbolism, capturing the message at the core of Lydia’s journey. When one dream dies, another is born from the ashes like a phoenix.

I also structured the story like a piece in sonata form. The narrative is broken into four sections, the exposition, development, recapitulation, and coda. This allowed me to bring a unique flavor to the story, since the sections reflect the sonata structure through words.

Ahead of publication, I did an interview for Linton Press, where I talked about “Piano Sonata No. 1 in A-Flat Major,” reading, and writing, and you can check that out here.

Opening My Copy of Capture This

Since “Piano Sonata No. 1 in A-Flat Major” got published over three years after I wrote the story, opening Capture This was a special moment. You can watch my unboxing video on YouTube.

My classical music heart is happy.
