My Nominations for the 3rd Annual Holiday Music and Film Awards
Christmas came early this year. I’m holly jolly excited to share that I received two nominations for the 3rd Annual Holiday Music and Film Awards.
I absolutely love Christmas music, so I’ve made it a tradition to release an original Christmas song each year. Currently, four are out in the world. Now, two of them are award-nominated songs. This is also my first time being nominated for these awards. I’m so grateful.
My Nominations for the 3rd Annual Holiday Music and Film Awards
This year, “Tinsel Heart” is up for Best Christmas Pop Song, and “Winter Cold” is up for Best Christmas Jazz Song. Both of these nominations mean the absolute world to me.
“Tinsel Heart” is my most recent Christmas single, released in 2023. This song is about how I keep the magic of Christmas with me all year round, even when the snow melts away and the decorations are back in their boxes. The holiday season is the brightest time of year because people are more mindful of spreading love and kindness. I feel that the world would be a better place if others made an effort to hold onto the Christmas spirit after the holidays are over. I loved writing “Tinsel Heart,” and I’m so honored it’s in the running for Best Christmas Pop Song this year.
“Winter Cold” was released in 2022, and this song is just as special to me now as it was the day I wrote it. The holiday season is a fun and festive time of year, but since this is also a time when things wind down, I do a lot of reflecting. For this reason, some melancholy thoughts and feelings rise to the surface. Still, I have a fire in my heart that burns gold, which is symbolic of my hopes, dreams, and sparkling moments, that keeps away the metaphorical winter cold. This is one of my most vulnerable songs, and its message is very close to my heart. I truly can’t thank the HMFAs enough for giving “Winter Cold” a nomination for Best Christmas Jazz Song.
I had a magical time bringing “Tinsel Heart” and “Winter Cold” to life in the studio. I recorded piano for both songs, which was very special. My drummer, Sophia Elliott, played on “Tinsel Heart,” and my saxophonist, Brett McCutcheon, brought the jazzy vibes to “Winter Cold.” Also, I couldn’t have created these songs without my wonderful producer, Bob McCutcheon. These two nominations aren’t just for me. They’re for all of us.
Thank you so much to the HMFAs for giving me the best early Christmas gift. I’m blessed to have two nominations, and I can’t wait to see what happens at the awards show in Jacksonville this December.
